The Great I AM
Today's lesson is about Jesus. Many consider Him to be a good man or a great prophet. But He is so much more than that. He is Messiah. He is the eternal Son of God who came in the flesh to redeem mankind. Jesus boldly declares, "Before Abraham was, I AM.!" - John 8:25
Jesus made seven I AM statements in the Gospel of John. He said - I AM the bread of life, I AM the light of the world, I AM the gate, I AM the Good Shepherd, I AM the resurrection and the life, I AM the way, the truth, and the life, and I AM the true vine.
For those who believe in him they will never walk in darkness, they will be saved, they will be protected, they will never die, they will know the Father, and they will bear much fruit.
In Galatians 3:6-9, 14 we read that God announced the Gospel in advance to Abraham. God told Abraham that "All nations will be blessed through you". Jesus is the blessing who was to come.
Jesus is everything. He is the self-existent and self-sufficient one. He is the creator of all things. He does not need us. But He recognized our need for Him. He came to meet our need. Philippians 4:19 states, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Messiah Yeshua (Jesus the Messiah)".
He is not the Great I Was or the Great I Will be. He is the Great I AM. He is everything we need.
