My one word for 2013 is..... What is a journey? What is the journey that I am on? What is the journey you are on?   Journey -    The act of traveling from one place to another; a trip.   A distance to be traveled or the time required for a trip   A process or course likened to traveling; a passage   My scripture to guide me on this journey -   [But] I don’t care about my own life [consider my life worth anything]. The most important thing [or My only goal] is that I complete [finish] my mission [task, course, race], the work [ministry; service] that the Lord Jesus gave me [ I received from the Lord Jesus] -to tell people [testify/witness to] the Good News [Gospel] about God’s grace. New Year's Goals

  The New Year brings about New Year goals.   I have several goals for 2013.   Here they are: Read the entire Bible using the ESV One Year Bible . Journal my discoveries using the something old, something new, and something to do format . Do 3 Bible studies. The first one is The Fine Art of Female Friendships . Memorize Scripture with the 2013 Siesta Bible Memory Team . Spiritual journey of discovery of who I am in relationship to God and others. Spend more time connecting with family and friends. Read two new  books per month and blog about it. Try one new recipe per week and blog about it. Keep my house more organized. I am a slob and I need to come clean . LOL. Days of Obscurity and Insecurity

Today's lesson is about the Apostle John and his  days of obscurity. In Acts 12:2 it tells of the death of James, John's brother. This is the last time we hear of John. While the book of Acts mentions the many exploits of Peter and Paul, there is very little mention of John. His ministry work does not get much attention. Many historians believe that John moved to Ephesus and even travelled to Rome at some point during his lifetime. R. Alan Culpepper states, " While the New Testament never mentions the activities of the Apostle John in his later years, early Christian writers, though not unanimous, furnish strong evidence that he spent several decades in residence in Ephesus. Ephesus was the place where people worshipped gods and goddess. The most important goddess was Artemis [or the Roman equivalent, Diana]. She was the goddess of fertility.
