Domestically Disabled...

Image
This post is about housekeeping or the lack thereof. You see, I've always had trouble keeping things neat and orderly.   My teen years were the beginning of the madness. I remember my grandmother coming to the end of the hall where my bedroom was and shaking her head. She would go "Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. That's a shame. Your poor mother." Well, I've tried almost everything under the sun in order to get organized. I even made this home management binder. It is chock full of forms and ideas. It has tons of inspirational articles to get me motivated. It has such ideas as quick clean, emergency clean, Fly Lady zones, etc. to use.   But.....       My problem is I can't stick with any one thing. I get discouraged when I see all that there is to do. I get overwhelmed by clutter.   I know everything should have a place and things should be put in their right place.   But what if there is no place to put things? ...

Scare tactics and the Gospel...

Image
I've been thinking about writing about this subject for a while. Yes, there is a heaven to be gained and a hell to be shunned. But how should we go about sharing the Gospel message with those who need it? Do we scare them into believing or do we share the Good News of Jesus for that is what the word Gospel means? I believe it is the later and here's why. Here are some biblical examples of bringing the message to the lost: When John the Baptist began his ministry he declared, "Repent for the kingdom of God is near" [Matthew 3:2]. He called people to be baptized for the remission of their sins [Mark 1:4]. When Jesus began his ministry he too called people to repent and believe the Good News [Mark 1:15]. The apostle Peter's message was to share the Good News with people and told them that they should believe [Acts 15:7]. The apostle Paul's shared the Good News by reasoning with those who did not believe or understand [Acts 17]. These are just...

We do not grieve as those who have no hope...

Image
Last night I attended a memorial service for a loved one.   The service was beautiful and many family and friends attended the service. My brother-in-law, who is a pastor, did a wonderful job officiating.   This thought came to my mind during the service. We are all acquainted with grief in one form or another. Life can at times be painful.   But for those who have place their trust in Jesus, we do not have to grieve as those who have no hope. For our loved ones who have placed their trust in Jesus have gone to a better place.   Last night they played this song by Mark Harris. I heard it before. It was right after my sister's death several years ago. It always makes me cry. In heaven, there are no more tears, sadness, grief or pain. For our loved ones who suffered here are finally free. Take a listen. Remember. For those who have gone before us, they are suffering no more. They now await for our arrival on the other side. ...

New Year's Goals

Image
The New Year brings about New Year goals.   I have several goals for 2013.   Here they are: Read the entire Bible using the ESV One Year Bible . Journal my discoveries using the something old, something new, and something to do format . Do 3 Bible studies. The first one is The Fine Art of Female Friendships . Memorize Scripture with the 2013 Siesta Bible Memory Team . Spiritual journey of discovery of who I am in relationship to God and others. Spend more time connecting with family and friends. Read two new  books per month and blog about it. Try one new recipe per week and blog about it. Keep my house more organized. I am a slob and I need to come clean . LOL. What are your goals for the new year? Please share - either here or on my facebook page . Iron sharpens iron, so we sharpen one another. Blessings, Regina

A Month of Thankfulness

Photo Credit I cam across this great idea from the blogger over at Walking in High Cotton . Fro everyday in November, I’ll be listing one thing that I’m grateful for over in the sidebar. I'll try to keep a running list for the whole month of November. If you are not a blogger than Tweet, Facebook, or Pin your blessings each day as well. What are you thankful for today?

Life...not always a bowl of cherries

Dear Blog Readers, Many of you know that I have not been feeling well since August. I have only recently begun to get back into the swing of things. At the beginning of the month of August I had the feeling of a stuffed up ear and difficulty hearing. I went to my doctor's office twice within a week. I finally saw an ENT ten days after my problem began. Diagnosis - sudden hearing loss with vestibular neuritis. Some of my hearing has returned. My balance is getting better each day. Needless to say, the recovery for my condition has been long. Hopefully, I am coming to the end of the recovery time which is estimated to be three months. I covet your prayers as I continue to heal. Please pray for continued hearing restoration, balance improvement, and the tinnitus to go away. I look forward to blogging on a regular basis. I trust in the Lord and I do not lean on my own understanding. I acknowledge him and he will direct my paths. While this has not been a bowl o...

Reason for blogging break...

Image
I am writing this quick post to let you all know why my blog has been silent for the past several days. Well, last week I had surgery which was routine and planned. Between the surgery, anesthesia, and pain meds, I have not had the energy to blog. I plan on getting back in the swing of things next week. I hope all my readers are still doing the Proverbs 31 study. Keep pressing on my dear friends!!

Does it matter what I do?

Image
Do  you ever wonder if what you do makes a difference? As a wife? A mother? A daughter? A sister? A co-worker? Last night we were driving home from church and we were having a time of impatience with one another. We could blame it on being tired or that it was a late night in the middle of the week.  But the thought came to my mind and I said it out loud - does it matter at all what I do? Is it all worth it? Then I heard Steven Curtis Chapman's song "Do Everything" come on my local K-Love radio station. I think God was trying to tell me something. Everything I do (including, my patience or lack thereof) impacts others,  - my husband, my child, my parents, my siblings, friends. Sometimes I impact them in a positive way and at other times it may be in a negative way. It is a choice. I am happy when it is positive. But when it is negative I dwell on it, pack my bags and go on a guilt trip. I realize I need to rely on the Holy Spirit's power ...
