The Trust Factor



Scriptures:
Proverbs 16:20 - Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the LORD will be joyful. NLT

Proverbs 28:25 - Greed causes fighting; trusting the LORD leads to prosperity. NLT

Proverbs 29:25 - Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the LORD means safety. NLT

Observation:
Trusting in the Lord brings joy, prosperity, and safety.

Application:
Instead of trusting in people and things, I should trust in the Lord.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, today I choose to put my trust in you and not in people or things. Today I will trust in you and not my own understanding. In all my ways I will acknowledge you and you will make my paths straight. In Jesus name, Amen.

New Year's Goals

  The New Year brings about New Year goals.   I have several goals for 2013.   Here they are: Read the entire Bible using the ESV One Year Bible . Journal my discoveries using the something old, something new, and something to do format . Do 3 Bible studies. The first one is The Fine Art of Female Friendships . Memorize Scripture with the 2013 Siesta Bible Memory Team . Spiritual journey of discovery of who I am in relationship to God and others. Spend more time connecting with family and friends. Read two new  books per month and blog about it. Try one new recipe per week and blog about it. Keep my house more organized. I am a slob and I need to come clean . LOL. Days of Obscurity and Insecurity

Today's lesson is about the Apostle John and his  days of obscurity. In Acts 12:2 it tells of the death of James, John's brother. This is the last time we hear of John. While the book of Acts mentions the many exploits of Peter and Paul, there is very little mention of John. His ministry work does not get much attention. Many historians believe that John moved to Ephesus and even travelled to Rome at some point during his lifetime. R. Alan Culpepper states, " While the New Testament never mentions the activities of the Apostle John in his later years, early Christian writers, though not unanimous, furnish strong evidence that he spent several decades in residence in Ephesus. Ephesus was the place where people worshipped gods and goddess. The most important goddess was Artemis [or the Roman equivalent, Diana]. She was the goddess of fertility.
