Ephesians - Week #8 - A Worthy Walk
While I have been reading and studying Ephesians, I have not posted in a bit on the study.
Ephesians 4:17-19
Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity.

Observation: We are not to be like those who do not know God. We are to live our lives in a way that pleases God. God has a standard that we are to live by. Those who do not know God follow their own desires and wants.
Application: We are in the Lenten season. A time of reflection of who we are in relation to Christ. The event which puts it all into perspective is Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane right before his arrest. He prayed for the cup of suffering to pass. However, he also prayed not for His own will do be done. He prayed that the Father's will would be done. We should have that same focus.
Prayer: Father, I want to do what pleases you. I am not perfect in following you. At times I've followed my own will and desires. At times this has been contrary to your will for my life. Help me to choose your will, which is following your Word. Not my will, but Thine be done. In Jesus name, amen.
