He Always Hears Me
Jesus calls us to the "secret place" to talk with us. Christ said, "When you pray, go into your room and close the door and pray to your Father who is unseen [Matt. 6:6]. Even Jesus had his own "secret place". He went to a place in Capernaum called Eremos (solitary) Heights. It had rugged rocks of granite and windswept cliffs. A friendlier part of it is called Eremos Hill. It has blossoms, birdsongs, and a view of the lake. This place would later be the mountain of the new covenant, the mount of beatitudes [With Jesus Through Galilee According to the Fifth Gospel].
This is where he was the day after healing in the synagogue, healing Peter's mother-in-law, and healing the multitude who came to Peter's door. Jesus got up very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he left the house, and went to a solitary place, where he prayed [Mark 1:35]. He made this His habit to go and prayer to His Father.
I have recently started the discipline of reading the Bible in chronological order. I use the NLT Chronological Bible. I have my solitary time alone with God early in the morning before anyone is up. I have a routine. I get my coffee going (pumpkin spice since it is Fall). I go to my computer to watch a video by Wendy Pope from Walking with Women in the Word - http://wendypope.org/. I get my cup of coffee and then I grab my chrono Bible, sit on the couch and read the selected portion for that day. If a Scripture really "jumps out at me", I will use that Scripture in prayer or I will mull over that portion of scripture through out the day.
Whenever you pray - morning, noon or night - just do it!! It is rewarding to know that God wants to talk with us. Just as Jesus prayed to his Father and was heard, we too can pray and be heard. Jesus said in John 11:41-42, "“Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me....
We can do the same. For the Apostle John states in 1 John 5:15 - And if we know that he hears us--whatever we ask--we know that we have what we asked of him.
